As a military family the 4th of July is important to my family and myself. That is why patriotic minis I am a little extra excited for. Usually I do a model call for the promotional add whenever I have mini sessions. But not for these. This time I wanted to use my son. Many people think that because I am a photographer that I have "so many great photos of my kids". Well think again lol. My kids are just like any other. They're extra stinky when it comes to mom. Usually it is
See this little chunk? He's my little chunk. This is Emmett, my youngest son. As a cake smash photographer I see so many themes. I started planning Emmett's cake smash session when he was about six months old. I went though many themes before I decided on one. So, so, so many themes! I thought I was set in stone on a Candy Land theme, but then about 2 weeks before I did his session I decided on Lumberjack. Not sure why, but the theme was just calling to me. Honestly I think
Hey everyone! For those who don't know me I am Melanie McCarty and I am a professional portrait photographer based out of Fort Worth, TX. Frequently my clients either send me pics of what they have chosen for family photos or they don't know where to even start and ask me what they should wear. I decided that I should write a blog with a few tips and tricks on what to wear to your session to make your family photos that much more of a success. If you follow these guidelines y
Say hello to sweet baby girl Lauren. At 24 days "old" she was one of the oldest newborns I have worked with. No worries though because even if a baby if outside of the ideal 4-14 day old age range beautiful newborn photos are possible. Miss Lauren did give me a run for my money at times though. If she wasn't wrapped up snug she just wanted to be held by her mama, Marissa. Lauren is Marissa's first biological baby, but Marissa does have two absolutely wonderful bonus babies wh
This is the Hughes family. Kristi took advantage of the Fall mini photo sessions I have yearly and booked a family photoshoot at Northwest Community Park. When they first showed up I was in awe with not only how good looking the entire family is, but with how well their outfits were coordinated. Kristi did an amazing job putting everything together. Not going to lie, sometimes family photoshoots can be a little hectic with multiple children. Especially younger children. This
Baby Weston came to visit my studio when he was only 12 day old for his newborn photography session. He was a dream newborn to photograph! From start to finish he never gave me any fuss and let me fold and pose him in any possibly way I wanted without even a stir. He loved my warm cozy photography studio, especially when I had the space heaters pointed towards him to make him extra toasty. This type of newborn is a photographers dream! Before I was told his height, which I be
Well this is new, writing a blog about...myself. Unless you follow my Facebook you probably don't know that I'm pregnant and expecting baby #2. After months and months of trying to get pregnant (with my son it took a year), I finally found out I was pregnant in June of 2017!!! When it comes to my photography I am a very patient person, when it comes to my own life, well not so much lol. I didn't want to wait until 20 week to find out if I was having a baby boy or a baby girl.
Milestone sessions are always important. They document some of the most precious and memorable times in children's lives. This is little P and he turned 9 months old! WOW he's 9 months old already? Wasn't it just yesterday I did his newborn pictures and his mamas maternity photoshoot? I know I'm a broken record, but oh how time flies! We wanted to do something special, memorial, and unique for his 9 month milestone session so why not a spaghetti smash theme? Nobody said "smas
